Zinc Telluride Nanoparticles
ZnTe Nanoparticles are one of the most attractive semiconductors, useful for various optoelectronic devices, such as green light-emitting diodes, electro-optical field detectors, photoelectrochemical solar cells, and high-efficiency powder phosphor screens, thanks to their optimal energy gap (2.25 eV) and low affinity (3.53 eV). During the last two decades, research on quantum-sized semiconductor particles has attracted a lot of attention due to their new and exciting properties. Numerous reports are available in the literature on synthesis techniques and potential applications of nano-sized semiconductor particles. ZnTe nanoparticles were prepared with different techniques. The main objective of this work is to synthesize the nanoscale title material with homogeneous crystallite size in a short time from Zn and Te by a convenient method. Both the Zn and Se elements are sensitive to microwave coupling. Therefore, the microwave irradiation technique provides homogeneous internal and volumetric heating at high rates and has been used to synthesize zinc telluride nanoparticles. The crystal structure of the synthesized nanoparticles was confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction analysis. The FT-Raman spectroscopic study was carried out to identify the vibration modes present in the synthesized material. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to verify the morphology and measure the particle size of the synthesized nanoparticles. The optical study was performed using a fluorescence spectrophotometer
